1. The history of Louis Poulsen

The story of Louis Poulsen began in 1874, when Ludvig R. Poulsen opened a wine import business. The wine trade was later given up in favour of a focus on electrical goods. In 1896, the founder's nephew Louis Poulsen joined the business, which he later took over.

Silverback LED ceiling and wall light by Louis Poulsen

Louis Poulsen's breakthrough in lighting, however, only came in 1924 through its collaboration with Poul Henningsen. Until then, most lights had a single light source that shone straight into people's eyes and caused unpleasant glare. Poul Henningsen developed a lamp with three graduated shades that gave both downward and indirect light – the principle behind the world-famous PH 5 pendant light. The PH 5 is still produced today and is regarded as an icon of Danish design.
This laid the foundation for many more lamps in different shapes, colours, sizes and versions.

Floor lamps, table lamps, wall lights, pendant lights or ceiling lights: at Louis Poulsen, you'll find the right lighting classic for every room.

2. Ceiling lights and their functionality

Louis Poulsen lights impress not only with their design but also with the quality of their light and colour rendering. Louis Poulsen lights come in various collections, all following the maxim "form follows function". The different lights have been developed in line with this philosophy and are now sold internationally. Here, design begins and ends with light.

Louis Poulsen's aim is to create a pleasant atmosphere – and the Danish manufacturer succeeds in doing just that.

3. Versatile combinations

Louis Poulsen offers its ceiling lights in various colours, shapes and sizes, so there is something for every room and taste. From an eye-catcher in the living room to a small light in the hallway, these designer lights offer the right option for every home.
