How to store wine correctly
Unlike spirits, wine should be stored lying down in a wine bottle rack. Lying down keeps the cork moist so that the wine cannot oxidise. A bottle rack should be solidly built to protect the bottles from vibrations. Wine racks should also be placed somewhere that is not subject to temperature fluctuations – anything else would harm the quality of the wine. How to store spirits correctly
Spirits should be stored upright. Their stoppers are made of a different type of cork and therefore sit more loosely than those of wine bottles. The same applies to screw caps. If the bottles are stored lying down, the liquid can attack the closures. In general, spirits keep indefinitely, as do liqueurs with an alcohol content above 30%. Anything below 30% should ideally be consumed fairly soon, as the quality tends to suffer with long storage. The Bottle rack by Magis is made of plastic and aluminium.
