Flexible shelving systems in inspiring colours
The Danish furniture manufacturer Montana was founded in 1982 by Peter J. Lassen and is still a family-run business today. It is one of the leading companies for modular shelving systems, both for the home and for public spaces such as offices.
"Honesty and respect are the prerequisites for good design."Peter Lassen
Peter Lassen designed the iconic Montana shelving system. The company is now run by his son, Joakim Lassen. Made in the company's own factory in Denmark, the shelving system stands out above all for its wide choice of colours. This makes the flexible system easy to fit into any interior and to configure to your needs. Montana gives you creative freedom and can be an expression of your personal style. Alongside the shelving system, the Montana collection also includes table and chair series by Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and many other renowned designers.
Montana and the EU Ecolabel
Since its first environmental project with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency in 1992, Montana has focused on improving its environmentally friendly product development methods. Gaining the recognised EU Ecolabel for its core products Montana System and Montana System CO16, as well as the Montana Free product line, is an important milestone in the company's history.
This makes Montana one of the first Danish furniture manufacturers to receive the official environmental label of the European Union. When EU Ecolabel criteria are developed for products, the focus is on the entire life cycle of the product, from the extraction of raw materials through production to distribution and disposal.
"Achieving this certification was very important to us, and we have been working towards it for a long time. I'm pleased that Montana is one of the first furniture manufacturers in Europe to achieve this, because I see sustainability as an essential part of our responsibility as a manufacturer in Denmark. Companies are no longer judged only on profit or international rankings. Instead, they are judged on the footprint they leave behind, which is why we always work to high quality standards to make sure our furniture lasts for generations."Joakim Lassen
