The AJ Outdoor Wall Sconce is equipped with an 8W, 3000 K LED. LEDs offer clear advantages over conventional incandescent bulbs: An LED lamp is immediately 100% functional, whereas many other energy-saving bulbs require a certain warm-up time. LEDs are ideal for outdoor use, as they do not lose performance even at sub-freezing temperatures. In addition, they provide a pleasant light, are relatively energy-efficient, and, last but not least, are characterized by a long service life. The LED unit in the AJ Outdoor Wall Sconce by Arne Jacobsen consists of eight LED diodes. The LED bulb is used without a ballast to ensure greater material safety. The AJ wall sconce itself is made of die-cast aluminum. The surface has a subtle texture and is weather-resistant. The inner shade is painted white, allowing the light to be pleasantly reflected and diffused. The AJ 50 Wall is glare-free and emits a broad, downward-directed beam of light. Arne Jacobsen was born and raised in Copenhagen. In 1927, he graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen with a degree in architecture. He worked at the office of the City Architect of Copenhagen until he opened his own architectural firm two years later. Arne Jacobsen is a Danish modernist architect of international renown. The buildings he designed are located in Denmark, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
