Iittala Teema: simple, beautiful tableware for everyday use
Teema tableware is a classic. This status is justified not only by its ongoing success, but also by its simple elegance and versatility. As early as 1952, the designer Kaj Franck created the basic shapes that later became Teema.
Originally, however, Teema was called Kilta and was produced by Arabia, where Kaj Franck worked as a designer after the Second World War. After Kilta was briefly taken out of production in the 1970s, Iittala began producing the tableware again. Today, Teema is one of the brand's bestsellers and one of the most sought-after tableware ranges in Scandinavia. What made Teema special then and now is its versatility. Described by Iittala itself as "meaningful simplification", Teema does without any ornamentation or decoration and is reduced to the essentials. The circle, square and rectangle are the basic shapes that Kaj Franck found so irresistible that he made them the theme of Teema. Colour was to be the tableware's only decoration – anything else would simply distract from the object itself. This simplicity is the basis for another key feature of Iittala Teema: you can combine it freely, both within the range and with other product families.
Combining Teema tableware in many ways
Iittala offers Teema in a wide range of colours. As the shapes always stay the same, all the colours combine easily. Teema's simple shapes also go with many other objects. You can easily combine and complement Teema with Bottna or Origo, for example, or with Kartio tumblers and Aino Aalto glasses. The products always look as if they belong together. In this way, Teema meets people's individual wishes and leaves room for personal expression. With a limited number of pieces, you can set an almost endless variety of tables.
Another plus of Teema tableware: it is freezer-safe, ovenproof, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe.
