Handwoven Kilim Rug

Tradition meets modernity: With the Kilim Rug, Ferm Living proves that traditional designs are perfectly suited for today’s living spaces. A kilim is a woven rug that has adorned walls and floors in the Near East for millennia. Ferm Living drew inspiration from these textiles for its Kilim Rugs in two ways: Like their traditional counterparts, the rugs from Ferm Living are crafted using traditional weaving techniques. And a feature typical not only of a kilim but also of Ferm Living is the inspiring geometric patterns. The pattern of the kilim rug & “Squares & ” consists of square and rectangular shapes in various harmoniously coordinated colors. The kilim rugs from Ferm Living are handmade, which is why each rug is unique. The weaving technique is called & “Punja & ” and is one of the oldest weaving techniques in the world. The weave varies slightly from rug to rug depending on the person who wove it. There may also be slight color variations between different rugs, as the wool yarn is hand-dyed. The wool used is Woolmark-certified.
