Hanging Lamp No. 2 Wall Sconce

Wall Sconce – Graphic Lightness with the Hanging Lamp N°2 by Valerie Objects

One line, one shade, surprisingly striking: The Hanging Lamp N°2 wall sconce by Valerie Objects was designed by Muller Van Severen and transforms light into a spatial drawing. The idea arose from a practical situation in the design duo’s own home: Because there was no electrical outlet on the ceiling above the table, Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen developed a light fixture that extends far into the room from the wall.

The first prototypes were presented in 2011 at Muller Van Severen’s first solo exhibition. A defining feature is the steel tube, reduced to its essentials, which runs through the room like a drawn line and transitions at the end into a lampshade designed to be deliberately neutral. In this way, the Hanging Lamp N°2 combines functional lighting with a sculptural yet pleasantly understated presence.

Measuring 75 cm in length, 25 cm in width, and 180 cm in height, the lamp makes a distinct graphic statement. It features an E27 socket, a switch, and a replaceable light bulb, and is intended for use in dry indoor environments.
