Standing Lamp No. 1, Marble Floor Lamp

Heavy marble, feather-light lines – Standing Lamp Marble N°1 by Valerie Objects

An exciting contrast makes this design special: In the Standing Lamp Marble N°1 by Valerie Objects the graphic lightness of Muller Van Severen meets the solid presence of marble. The stone base visually anchors the delicate structure in the room, while the slender lines above it appear almost like a freehand sketch. This contrast gives rise to a light sculpture that achieves a remarkable degree of expressiveness with minimal design elements.

In typical Muller Van Severen fashion, the construction remains deliberately visible and reduced to the essentials. Instead of a voluminous lamp body, lines, surfaces, and open space define its appearance. The marble not only introduces a natural material but also forms a striking counterpoint to the lamp’s delicate geometry. Its unique grain further makes the base a distinctive element of the design.

Whether placed next to a sofa or armchair or positioned freely in the room, the Standing Lamp Marble N°1 strikes a balance between a functional light source and a sculptural design object. It is precisely the interplay between solid natural stone and minimalist construction that makes it an expressive alternative to the classic floor lamp and highlights Muller Van Severen’s experimental design language particularly well.
